UVic relationships

A collaboration involving UVic researchers, community members and First Nations in the Chemainus area is helping to promote an awareness of biodiversity among young people and the public.
In support of the university's strong commitment to civic engagement, the Department of Community Relations focuses on building and maintaining links between the university and its various external communities. It consists of the Community Relations Programs Unit, the Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery and the University Centre Farquhar Auditorium.
The department serves an outreach role to the wider community, by organizing educational, cultural and networking events, sharing information with community leaders, and providing advice and support for university initiatives which link to the public.
Community Relations manages UVic participation in community initiatives. These include sponsorships, program partnerships and attendance at fundraising and charitable events. We represent UVic at off-campus events, stage community forums, manage the UVic art collection and present cultural events such as exhibitions and performances.
