$3m grant allows UVic to assist those with disabilities

A new, $3-million grant from the BC government will allow the University of Victoria’s CanAssist program to expand its leading-edge technology projects and help more British Columbians with disabilities. CanAssist is a disabilities assistance program that develops and delivers technology, devices and services to improve the quality of life for those with special needs.

UVic’s new William C. Mearns Centre for Learning honours one of UVic’s founders who was also instrumental in establishing the university’s Gordon Head campus. The centre expands the ability of the UVic Libraries to meet the challenge of a technological age.

Black Scholarships

A new scholarship program established by David Black, president and owner of Black Press—Canada’s largest independent newspaper company—will assist students throughout BC who are planning to pursue a bachelor of commerce degree at UVic.
