Applying to UVic
Before you apply to the University of Victoria, there are a few key steps to take, including choosing a program of study, checking admission requirements for that area, reviewing entry points, documentation requirements, and deadlines.
Choose your area of interest (faculty)
You need to know what program you want to study before applying for admission. Review the Choose Your Program section on this web site, the links below and the Faculty of Graduate Studies web site. You may wish to discuss your academic goals with the Graduate academic advisor (PDF) for your program.
Check admission requirements
All applicants to the Faculty of Graduate Studies must meet the minimum standards required by the Faculty. If an applicant satisfies these basic requirements, the application is passed on to the department for final decision. Many departments have set higher standards than those set by the Faculty.
Additionally, international applicants who are considering applying to UVic must apply for Authorization to Study in Canada.
Please be aware that there are different admission processes for:
- Auditing courses
- Visiting students; using a Letter of Permission (PDF)
- Applicants who are part of the Western Deans' Agreement
- Visiting Research Student CGSMRA
