The biology department occupies the Cunningham building along
with the interdisciplinary centre for forest biology and a 32,000-plant
herbarium. There are numerous specialized research facilities in
the building, including an electron microscope laboratory, controlled
environment chambers, animal care laboratories, aquarium facilities,
and a biohazard laboratory. The building was completed in 1971.
